When I took the helm as president of NAHREP South Florida, I knew the role would demand everything. What I didn't expect was just how much that intensity would pay off: literally and figuratively.
Last year, I made a choice that cost me personally. I sacrificed half my real estate business to lead our chapter with the kind of discipline and accountability that most professional organizations only dream about. But today, standing on the other side of that decision, I can tell you with absolute certainty: it was worth it.

The Numbers Don't Lie
NAHREP South Florida just earned the recognition we worked for all year: we're the top-earning chapter in the entire country for 2025.
But here's what makes that achievement different from typical success metrics. It's not just about revenue. It's about how we earned it, and what we did with it.
Throughout 2025, our business rallies and educational events averaged a net profit of $16,800 per event. No galas inflating the numbers. No excess spending. Just disciplined execution. We brought money in, and we kept it. We invested it back into our chapter's development and future.
In an organization where chapters struggle with the temptation to spend everything they raise, we made a different choice: retain, develop, and grow sustainably. That's the real blueprint.
The Real Return on Investment For Everyone
This is the part of the NAHREP story that doesn't always get told.
Because of the work we invested last year, and because of our commitment to our partners, something remarkable happened. Our partners saw results. Real results.
We experienced a 45% increase in partnership dollars from 2024 to 2025. Our lenders, title companies, inspection companies, and every service connected to real estate didn't just stay involved— they saw tangible growth in their own businesses from the connections and relationships built through our chapter.
That credibility translates to investment. This year in 2026, partners who were minor sponsors in 2025 are now coming back as diamond sponsors with minimum $10,000 commitments. New partners are entering at that level too. They're not doing it because we asked louder. They're doing it because they saw the results last year.
When you build something real, people invest in it
And for me personally? Because of the confidence and credibility I built through NAHREP South Florida's success, I'm now getting sponsorships for my own business. One sponsor invested $5,000 to help me launch my own podcast; something that directly supports my team's growth! That sponsorship is covering the salary of a marketing specialist, and other operational costs that would have stretched my budget.
The investment in leadership created multiple streams of return. The accountability we demanded of ourselves attracted partners who were hungry for exactly that kind of excellence.

What This Means for Real Estate Leaders
If you're considering a deeper commitment to your association, your chapter, or your professional community, I want you to hear this: the short-term sacrifice is real, but the long-term return is immense.
Leadership development doesn't just make you a better board member. It makes you a better businessperson. The systems you build, the accountability you establish, and the standards you set all transfer directly to your own enterprise, and attract partners who want to be part of something that works.
At the NAHREP Homeownership and Housing Policy Conference in Washington, DC next week, I'm sharing the full blueprint of how we got here. Not the motivational version; the real, strategic, tactical version. The part about keeping expenses LOW. The part about retention versus spending. The part about building leaders instead of just running programs.
Because if NAHREP South Florida can become the top-earning chapter in the country, what could your chapter do? What could your business do?
The answer depends on one thing: are you willing to lead with that kind of intensity?
